Well-preserved 4,000-year-old judge's tomb found at Saqqara with intact wall reliefs

A Spanish-Egyptian mission uncovered a decorated, well-preserved tomb of a judge at the Mariette Cemetery, Saqqara, during the 2026 season. Dating to the late Fifth Dynasty reign of King Djedkare Isesi (2494–2345 BC), its wall reliefs and inscriptions survived in readable condition — rare at Saqqara, where many Old Kingdom tombs were stripped of decoration in antiquity.
