Gulf refinery outages push gasoline prices away from crude
Attacks on Gulf energy facilities have idled roughly 2.4 million barrels per day of refinery capacity across 20 plants, MarketWatch reports. The crack spread — the margin between crude input and gasoline output — has surged, so pump prices keep climbing even as crude stalls. Consumers are paying for scarcer refining, not just scarcer oil.
