Livingston sack Whelan after nine games, Martindale returns as interim boss

Livingston dismissed head coach Glenn Whelan after nine matches in charge, a morning after a 1-0 loss at Stenhousemuir. Whelan, appointed in May following relegation from the Scottish Premiership, leaves with the club fifth in the Championship. David Martindale, who managed Livingston for six years before becoming sporting director in January, returns as interim head coach, assisted by Frankie McAvoy.
