King Charles III calls Bayeux Tapestry the 'Canterbury Embroidery' at London unveiling

At a private preview at the British Museum on 2 September 2026, King Charles III said the Bayeux Tapestry was commissioned in Normandy but most likely embroidered in Canterbury by English craftspeople, and suggested it be called the 'Canterbury Embroidery.' The 70-metre work opens to the public on 10 September, its second departure from France in 950 years.
