Gloria Steinem, Ms. magazine co-founder and second-wave feminism leader, dies at 92

Gloria Steinem, the writer and activist who co-founded Ms. magazine — the first feminist periodical with a national readership — died at 92 at her New York City home, her foundation announced on 3 September 2026. The Instagram statement said she "passed away peacefully… surrounded by some of the many who loved her." A forthcoming book, An Unexpected Life, was unfinished at her death.
