India's First Homegrown Video AI Model Launches at Lower Cost

Avataar.ai launched Varya on June 12, 2026, a video AI model built in India and trained on Indian languages and cultural contexts. Selected under the India AI Mission to build domestic capabilities, Varya uses knowledge distillation—a compression technique reducing computational costs—to work affordably at scale across the region, trading some output quality for speed and price.
