
UK Orders Social Media Platforms to Block Dangerous Content Before It Spreads
On 9 June 2026, Ofcom required X, TikTok, and others to stop terrorism and hate content at the moment it begins spreading—not after it reaches hundreds of thousands. This inverts how regulation has worked: platforms previously removed posts only after damage was done. Non-compliance risks 10% of global revenue. Other regulators are expected to follow.
