Ukraine's War Crimes Documentation Machine

Ukraine launched a Military Ombudsman office in October 2024 to investigate alleged violations by its own forces in occupied areas. Beyond handling complaints, it's building an archive of evidence—patterns of conduct that could feed future international courts. The former Yugoslavia tribunal did much the same. Ukraine's setup mirrors that model, though wartime limits its ability to access occupied territories directly.
