Borthwick drops Lawrence and Daly from England central contracts a year out from World Cup

Steve Borthwick omitted Ollie Lawrence and Elliot Daly from his 25-man enhanced EPS squad on 12 August 2026, stripping both backs of central contracts worth around £150,000 a season. The move comes a year before the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Lawrence was dropped outright; Daly was carrying an arm injury. Both can still force their way back through club form.
