BFI in early development to expand Calvin Demba's short 'The Animals' into a feature

Calvin Demba's short "The Animals," starring George MacKay and Louisa Harland, will open its festival run at a BAFTA- and Oscar-qualifying major festival yet to be named, Variety reports. Demba is in early development with the BFI to expand the 16mm short into a feature. Shore Scripts named the script a Top 5 finalist in its 2025 Short Film Fund.
