
Kelly smashes Irish 100m breaststroke record twice in one day in Paris
Jack Kelly, a 23-year-old New York native qualified for Ireland through his mother, lowered the Irish 100m breaststroke record twice on Monday at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris — 59.27 in the heats, then 58.90 in the semi-final. He entered the day with a personal best of 59.72 and had never broken 59 seconds. Kelly reached Tuesday's final, 0.23 behind Olympic champion Nicolo Martinenghi.
