Jon Cypher, Hill Street Blues' Chief Daniels, dies at 94

Jon Cypher, who played Police Chief Fletcher Daniels across more than 70 episodes of NBC's Hill Street Blues (1981–87), died on 3 August 2026 at his home in Central Point, Oregon, aged 94. His family told Ashland News he died with his wife by his side; no cause was disclosed. Hill Street Blues won 26 Emmys, including four consecutive Outstanding Drama Series awards.
