Magnitude 7.4 Quake Kills at Least 77 in Western Colombia
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck near San Jose del Palmar, Chocó, on 10 August 2026, killing at least 77 people, Reuters reports. The USGS placed the epicenter 107 km underground, sending tremors to Bogotá and Cali. It is Colombia's deadliest quake since a magnitude 6.1 event in August 2023. The wide affected zone, across Andean terrain, complicates rescue efforts.
