UTA Signs 'Forgotten Island' Writer-Director Januel Mercado

United Talent Agency has signed writer-director Januel Mercado for representation in all areas, Variety reported on 10 August 2026. Mercado co-directed DreamWorks Animation's 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,' which grossed nearly $500 million globally. His next film, 'Forgotten Island,' co-directed with Joel Crawford, opens theatrically on 25 September 2026. Mercado remains managed by Joann Mercado Hicks.
