Apple Sues Boomcloud 360 to Head Off Spatial Audio Patent Claims
Apple filed a declaratory judgment suit on August 5, 2026, in the US District Court for the Southern District of California, asking a jury to rule that its iPhones, iPads, AirPods and Beats headphones do not infringe three Boomcloud 360 spatial audio patents. Since January 2026, Boomcloud has sued Apple's retail partners — including AT&T, T-Mobile, Walmart, Target and Best Buy — over the same patents, without naming Apple itself. Apple is represented by Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
