Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong co-wrote and co-directed "Nimrods: A Green Day Comedy" with Lee Kirk, premiering 14 August. The film builds a fictional road-trip story around Green Day's catalogue rather than serving as a biopic. Armstrong's son Jakob wrote songs for the fictional band Analog Dogs.
