Pius and Sheikh split top Locarno Open Doors grants of CHF 20,000 each

Talemwa Pius and Mohammed Sheikh each received CHF 20,000 ($24,800) at Locarno's 2026 Open Doors, announced 10 August at Locarno Pro. Pius won for his debut feature 'A Vineyard for a Lobster,' produced by Gripmagic Uganda. Sheikh won for 'Accept My Plea for a Burial,' a Djibouti-Somalia-Qatar co-production from Aleel Films and his second feature after 'Barni' (Variety).
