Thames Water Paid Executive £1m From Emergency Loan

Thames Water paid its finance chief Steve Buck a £1m hiring bonus in July 2026. The money came from a £3bn emergency loan that lenders approved to keep the water company running. Chair Adrian Montague told MPs about it. The bonus was delayed from Buck's April 2025 start. Thames serves 16 million customers and has nearly collapsed for over two years.
