A Total Solar Eclipse Will Darken Spain on August 12
On August 12, 2026, the moon will pass fully in front of the sun, casting a shadow across Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. It is mainland Europe's first total eclipse since 1999. The blackout begins at 15:34 GMT and can last over two minutes. About 15 million people live in its path — mostly in Spain, including León, Valencia, and Zaragoza.
