Lib Dems warn NHS Bill could weaken patient safety

Lib Dem health spokesperson Helen Morgan urged Health Secretary Andy Burnham to protect NHS staff who speak up about dangers and to keep safety watchdogs sharing information. She called the NHS Modernisation Bill the worst step back for patient safety in a generation. Burnham led the 2010 Stafford Hospital inquiry. Ministers said the Bill keeps safety rules. MPs vote on it on 7 September.
