Eclipse, meteors, and planet lineup share the sky on Aug. 12–13

On August 12–13, 2026, the Moon fully blocks the Sun over Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and Portugal. That same night, the Perseid meteor shower — shooting stars from comet dust — peaks under dark, moonless skies, with NASA expecting 50–100 per hour. Six planets also line up together. Three rare sky events sharing two days is unusual.
