Trump Again Seeks to Fire Federal Reserve Official Lisa Cook

The White House told Federal Reserve official Lisa Cook in early August 2026 that President Trump may fire her over mortgage-fraud claims. The Supreme Court blocked this same effort in June. The letter says presidents can fire Fed officials for any reason — something the Court already said no to. Cook's lawyer called the claims "baseless."
