
Cambridge Scholars Want Outside Investigation Into Professor's Resignation
Nearly 100 Cambridge academics, including prize-winning mathematician Timothy Gowers, are rejecting the university's own investigation into the Jason Arday controversy. Their 7 August 2026 letter to Vice-Chancellor Deborah Prentice demands an outside body with a public timeline and published findings. Arday resigned on 5 August amid accusations of copying others' work, three-and-a-half years after becoming Cambridge's youngest black professor.
