
Ship Operators Reject Iran's Proposed Hormuz Toll Deal
Reuters reported August 6, 2026 that ship operators call a proposed Iran-Oman Strait of Hormuz deal unworkable. The deal would let Iran control ships entering the Gulf. An Iranian official said Iran wants to charge 5–7% of cargo value as a toll — a steep fee on a narrow waterway carrying about a fifth of the world's oil.
