Giant Rodents Wander Into Brazil's State Government Building

Five capybaras — large South American rodents — strolled through a state legislature in Cuiabá, Brazil, on July 30, 2026, and the video spread widely online. A 2024 law had ordered a tunnel to help them cross the grounds safely. The building sits along their regular route from a nearby park. The animals' return suggests the tunnel was never built or isn't working.
