Police raid Starbucks Korea over offensive cup campaign

South Korean police raided Starbucks Korea's Seoul office and executives' homes on 5 August 2026. They're investigating a cup campaign launched on 18 May, the anniversary of a historic 1980 uprising. Its catchphrase copied words from a 1987 police cover-up of a torture killing. Parent company Shinsegae cancelled it, fired the CEO, and closed all stores for training.
