Iran and Oman Near Deal to Share Control of Key Shipping Strait

Iran and Oman are finalizing a deal to split control of the Strait of Hormuz — a narrow waterway carrying about a fifth of the world's oil and gas. Iran would manage incoming ships, Oman outgoing ones. But Iran warns ships aren't safe yet because the US Navy is still blocking Iranian ports. US officials say shipments may resume this week.
