Reddit Gives New Communities an AI Tool That Understands Post Meaning, Not Just Words

Reddit is expanding Rules Hub, an AI moderation tool, to all newly created communities after testing across 700+ subreddits. Moderators write rules in everyday language; the AI judges what a post actually means rather than scanning for banned words like Reddit's older Automod system. The tool remains optional. Wider availability is targeted for later in 2026; no plan to retire Automod has been announced.
