Factory and Service-Sector Hiring Both Growing, ISM Surveys Show

ISM's factory hiring gauge reached 52.8 percent in July 2026 — up 3.1 points from June and its best since August. The service-sector gauge was 51.2 percent in June. Anything above 50 means hiring is growing. Factory hiring often turns first, so its rise suggests service-sector hiring may follow.
