Pakistan to Require Reporters Outside Big Cities to Get Government Permission

Pakistan's 2026 rules say reporters working outside its three biggest cities must get a government permission slip before covering stories. There is no deadline for approval, and current waits can last months or never end. Dawn newspaper editor Zaffar Abbas called the restrictions "ridiculous" and "totally unacceptable."
