Airline pilot caught with thousands of ecstasy pills in Indonesia

Indonesian police arrested a Malaysia Airlines pilot at Jakarta's airport on 28 July 2026 after finding about 26 kilograms of ecstasy pills — roughly 70,000 tablets — in his luggage. He said he was paid £9,000 to carry them. He also tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine drugs. In Indonesia, smuggling drugs can be punished by death.
