Drought Declared Across Half of England and All of Wales

Half of England and all of Wales were declared in drought before 3 August 2026, after the driest July since records began in 1836. England got just 6.5mm of rain — 10% of normal. About 40% of people in England now can't use garden hoses, a ban area larger than in the 2022 drought.
