Natural Gas Reserves Growing Too Slowly for Winter
U.S. natural gas in storage rose just 28 Bcf — a unit equal to roughly enough gas to heat 14,000 homes for a year — for the week ending July 24, 2026, after 32 Bcf the prior week. Both came in below forecasts, per EIA and WSJ. Storage stands at 3,084 Bcf. The slow refill tightens the winter cushion even as production rose for a 14th straight month in May 2026.
