Japan Finds a Cheaper Way to Defend the Yen

Japan will borrow dollars from the Federal Reserve using its U.S. bonds as collateral, instead of selling those bonds outright, CNBC reports. This preserves Japan's savings. The change follows an August 3 joint U.S.-Japan effort to buy yen after it fell to 40-year lows.
