Greater Manchester election shows what happens when similar parties compete for the same voters

Labour's Bev Craig won the Greater Manchester mayoral byelection. Reform UK came second with 21% of the vote; Restore Britain took 8.7%. Even if those two parties — which appeal to similar voters — had joined forces, they still would have lost. That's the lesson: splitting the same pool of supporters makes it harder to win.
