AI Boom Causes Weeks-Long Wait for MacBook Air

MacBook Air buyers now face a 2–3 week wait, up from a few days. The cause: companies making AI software are buying up so much computer memory that there's less left for everyday devices. The shortage already hit Apple's Mac mini and Mac Studio. Chipmakers Samsung and SK Hynix warned of this in January 2026.
