Budget 2026 cuts disability ministry funding and leaves family support payments unchanged

Budget 2026 cuts $1.46 million from Whaikaha, the government's disability ministry, according to CCS Disability Action. The group says a $21.3 million Budget number for the Child Disability Allowance does not raise what families actually receive. An MSD report also shows 210,600 children now live below the poverty line.
