Dozens Die as 60,000 Cross Spain's Border in North Africa

Sixty-seven people died and about 60,000 crossed from Morocco into Ceuta, a small piece of Spain on Africa's coast, starting July 30, 2026. It was the deadliest and largest mass crossing of the EU's only land border in Africa. Spain says 50,000 returned within 48 hours. Troops arrived only after 49,000 crossed in one day. Morocco's enforcement role is now in question.
