First Drone Video of a Baby Humpback Whale Being Born

On July 28, 2026, a wildlife photographer named Alexander Forrest, working with a whale rescue group called ORRCA, used a drone to film a humpback whale giving birth off Kingscliff, New South Wales. Experts believe this is the first whale birth ever caught on drone video and only the fourth humpback birth filmed worldwide. The mother and baby were doing well afterward.
