Reddit's CEO Says Google's AI Search Summaries Are Hurting Reddit Traffic

Reddit CEO Steve Huffman told shareholders before Q2 2026 earnings that Google's AI Overviews — computer-generated answer summaries shown above regular search results — have cut traffic to Reddit and haven't been as valuable as the old list of clickable blue links. "People don't want a summary of Reddit; they want Reddit," he wrote. Huffman wouldn't rule out changing Reddit's $60 million content deal with Google, saying only that "the range of outcomes is wide."
