Most AI research papers in a small audit contained fake or AI-written content

A July 30 audit of 22 submissions to AI research conferences found 68% had made-up citations, fake author names, or text clearly written by AI. The sample was small and not randomly selected. The auditor released a free tool on GitHub that checks citation lists for fabrications.
