Saudi Arabia and 13 Countries Team Up to Protect Red Sea Shipping

Saudi Arabia and thirteen partners, including Turkiye, Egypt, and Pakistan, formed a new alliance on July 29, 2026. Based in Saudi Arabia, it will protect ships passing through the Red Sea area — a route carrying about 10 percent of the world's oil. The move follows a Houthi blockade on Saudi shipping. The UAE and Oman did not join.
