Saudi Arabia Wants 50 Countries to Help Keep Ships Safe in the Red Sea
Saudi Arabia is asking about 50 countries to join a group protecting ships in the Red Sea from Houthi attacks, Reuters and Al Jazeera reported on July 29, 2026. No country has signed on yet. The Houthis have blockaded the sea route, slowing trade and putting more than 3 percent of the world's oil supply at risk.
