Trump Offers to Hold Off on Attorney General Pick, Keep Him On Temporarily

President Trump said July 30 he would pull Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general — the nation's top law enforcement official — and resubmit it after Senators Cornyn and Tillis leave in January 2027. Blanche would serve as acting attorney general in the meantime. The Senate postponed his vote July 29 over a Justice Department settlement linked to Trump's tax returns. Cornyn said concerns go beyond two senators.
