Self-Driving Taxis Without Steering Wheels Can Now Charge for Rides

Federal regulators gave Zoox, an Amazon-owned company, permission to charge passengers for rides in self-driving taxis that have no steering wheel or pedals. CEO Aicha Evans called it a first. Up to 2,500 vehicles per year are allowed for two years. Las Vegas launches first; California still needs to grant its own permits.
