Weather Agency: El Niño Likely by August, 2027 Could Be Hottest Year Yet

The World Meteorological Organization says there's an 80% chance that El Niño — a natural warming of Pacific Ocean waters — begins by August 2026. Reuters reports the agency warns this, on top of climate change, could make 2027 the hottest year ever recorded. This follows record June heat in western Europe that fueled wildfires.
