
Houthi Blockade Halts Saudi Oil Ships to Asia
On July 20, 2026, Yemen's Houthis blocked all Saudi shipping through the Red Sea. Oil tankers heading to China and India turned back the next day. On July 24, Houthis attacked Saudi oil facilities, damaging a storage site. Five million barrels of oil a day now sit at risk. A 2022 peace deal, made after seven years of failed Saudi airstrikes, has fallen apart.
