Prime Minister wants care funding sorted before backing assisted dying law

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on 29 July 2026 that funding for end-of-life and daily care must be "fixed" before he supports any law on assisted dying. His stance has shifted from 2024, when he said he would "probably vote in favour." A new bill is expected when Parliament returns in September.
