Uganda Stops Ebola While Neighbor Struggles
Uganda declared itself Ebola-free on July 28, 2026, after 87 days, 20 cases, and 2 deaths. Meanwhile, the neighboring country DRC is fighting the fastest-spreading Ebola outbreak ever: 3,262 infections and 1,437 deaths. The World Health Organization says real numbers could be 2–4 times higher. The DRC's type of Ebola, called Bundibugyo, has no approved vaccines or treatments.
