Major Earthquake Kills at Least 28 in Japan

A powerful earthquake hit Kumamoto, Japan, on July 28, 2026. At least 28 people died and over 50 were hurt. The shaking reached the highest level Japan uses to measure earthquake force. A shopping mall collapsed, a train came off its tracks, and 300,000 people were told to leave their homes for safety.
